Home
Eaton Designs
A furniture and cabinetry shop founded in 2004 by Michael Eaton. Michael grew up in Big Sur, CA, where everyone was an artist. However, it was an environment where people didn't make money on their art, they just made art. If someone needed a table or a lamp they didn't buy it, they made it. Everywhere he went, he saw examples of creative and artistic objects. Every thing from a three-story house made from a giant oak wine barrel to a drift wood latch for a gate. That creative environment and his fascination with Tinker Toys, Lincoln Logs, and Legos developed into a career as a wood worker.
After 18 years of building cabinets in a variety of shops, he decided to venture out on his own. He focuses on unique high-end furniture, and work for clients who appreciate good craftsmanship and interesting designs.
Art
Jeffrey Hessing
An energetic and optimistic painter, who grew up in New York in the 60's and 70's and has spent over the past 20 years living and working in the South of France. His unique use of brazen colors, distortion, and oversimplified forms characterizes his one-of-a-kind style. His work is about transformation, challenging ideas, and affirming the inherent instability of matter. He combines an intense observation of reality with the greatest possible degree of spontaneity and freedom.
Mr. Hessing strives to express the spirit of what he paints, with the ultimate goal of inspiring people to perceive things in a fresh and unfamiliar way. It is his deep conviction that while making his art more personal and intimate, he arrives at an expression of the self in relation to the outer world, which then becomes universal, transcending continents and cultures.
